Why is Trading Education so Important?

We checked the education aspect in each of the current spread betting companies reviews we’ve made. Who gives what and how far does each company go to assist the beginners (and the experts) with the best learning tools, including webinars, free guides, charting packages, glossary and demo account availability.

For novice traders, it is important to have access to educational tools as your trading skills develop. To have educational support- whether through webinars, in-house seminars or online guides- from the very beginning can give traders the confidence boost they need to start spread betting. Taking the time to educate yourself as a trader whilst beginning your spread betting activity will equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to best analyse the markets, master your broker’s trading platform and make informed trades.

Experienced traders also have a lot to gain from the education solutions offered by spread betting brokers. There is always something to learn as many brokers offer advanced webinars and training sessions for traders who are already equipped with the basics. Not to mention, informative sessions on platform upgrades and new features are always of benefit, even to the most experienced of traders.

Types of Spread Betting Education

There are a range of tools and resources available to traders who wish to advance their trading skills. These educational tools include:

  • Free Guide: Many brokers offer a free introductory guide for first time traders which talks them through the beginning stages of their trading activity. The guide can be presented as a downloadable file, written online content, videos and more.
  • Recorded Webinars: Pre-recorded webinars offer you more flexibility when it comes to educational sessions. You can choose the times of day and the place you wish you watch the webinar, meaning the sessions will fit into your schedule rather than changing your schedule to find the time to learn. InterTrader offers a wide range of webinars for free on their website.
  • Live Seminars: Live sessions can cover a range of topics, from introductions for beginners to advanced technical analysis. They are generally held at your broker’s head office after work hours. The benefit of attending a live seminar is that you will have the chance to ask questions and engage with the trading expert as well as meet other traders who are in a similar position to you. IG hosts live seminars from their head office in London.
  • One on One Sessions: A great way to learn and feel free to ask the questions you really need answers to, some brokers will offer a one-on-one/private phone call session to introduce you to their platform or offer some educational content.
